HI MBALE PROJECT
The project was entitled as such because hi = HELP International, organization I volunteered with in 2013, May 15 - August 15, and Mbale is a city in Uganda, Africa where the projects took place. The acronym also implied "Hi Mbale. Good to meet you. I look forward to getting to know you this summer. I think we are going to be great friends."
In summary, I worked on 3 main projects:
1\\ Mentored the director of a widows and orphans association in developing Rise & Shine Vocational Institute and getting it on its feet so that the students can receive the necessary training and needed supplies to provide them with sustainable skills to benefit their family and future.
2\\ Taught math, career guidance, time management, and handmade sanitary pad construction at a secondary school while working with student leaders to expland their knowledge and skills and increase the learning environment of all students at the school. I also developed an after school dance class that met once a week and achieved making a TV appearance on "So You Think You Can Dance" during National Dance Day episode.
3\\ Worked with 1000 Shillings to provide women in the slums the skill sets, sewing techniques, and job opportunity to in turn earn money to put towards their own business and support their family.
I'm a believer in inspiring and providing stability for a brighter future. Giving hope. If you have the same passions and want to contribute to the good out here, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you so much for your interest in this project. I appreciate you all as wonderful friends and family who have supported me in all my crazy life ventures!
